Maybe Ruby Is A Girl’s Best Friend…?

The birthstone for the month of July is the ruby. This stone is known for tokens of peace and harmony. Its beauty communicates of nobility of character and strength. Wearers are known to attract both good fortune and good friends.

The ruby is also known as the royal stone, a symbol of power, passion and dignity. Physically they are known to improve digestion and blood circulation. Ruby helps heal and open the heart. It illuminates the emotional level of life. It has been called the “king of precious stones” or the “queen of gemstones”.

Rubies are found around the world, the best coming from Thailand, India, Madagascar, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Burma and North Carolina in the good old US of A.

Birthstones were chosen back in ancient times and were chosen to be a symbol of the person. With the 12 months 12 zodiac signs were created and thus 12 birthstones. Now rubies are associated with the signs of Aries, Scorpio, Leo and cancer. It is ruled by Mars.

Ruby represents the red corundum. Corundum is a mineral that comes in white, grey, green, red, yellow or brown.

Some interesting facts…..

  • Today rubies are even more valuable and rare than the top colorless diamonds.
  • Rubies are rated on the Mohs’ scale (scale of hardness) at 9 which compares to diamonds at a 10
  • It has been said that the ruby is the most precious of the 12 stones God created when he created all things and this “lord of gems” was placed on Adam’s neck by God’s command.

On a completely different note, Happy 4TH of July to all of you. What a great country we live in. I wish you the happiest, healthiest and most enjoyable day on the 4th. May it be filled with power, passion and dignity like the bearers of the ruby.
